Before Sunset Review
My Rating: 8.2/10
IMDb Rating: 8/10 Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 95% Metacritics Rating: 90/100 Roger Ebert: 3.5/4 My Favorite Quotes: 1. “Let me sing you a Waltz”. - Celine 2. “You can never replace anyone because everyone is made up of such beautiful specific details”. - Celine 3. Celine: “Baby you are gonna miss that plane”. Jesse: “I know”. 9 years after their first one night stand, Jesse and Celine stumble into each other once again while Jesse is conducting a book a book tour through Europe. They communicate with their usual deep conversation on touchy subjects. They tell one another how their lives have changed and what they do or don’t like about their current situations. This movie and the first installment “Before Sunrise” offer very similar plots and dialogue. Unfortunately, it felt not quite as intriguing as the jaw dropping first movie. Although I must admit the ending to this movie was very well done and powerful. It left me in tears. Just knowing what could have been between them, but never materialized. Also, a majority of the soundtrack was written by Julie Delpy which I found to be very cool. Instantly after watching this movie I downloaded the ending song “A Waltz for a Night” and I cannot stop listening to it. This is still a very good romance movie and worth a watch because of its semi originality and its ability to avoid the sappy romance clichés. |
