To be completely honest I will admit I an not one of those biased die hard walking dead fans. But I will admit that I watched the first season when It first started airing, way before the show took off and got the fan ship it has today. Boy, did I enjoy the fuck out if the show. Anyway after watching the first 2 seasons on a binge I quit after the 3rd season because I felt that it lost its originality and became much to repetitive. Just recently I starter watching the show again after I long break of roughly 2 years. And I must admit this season was much better than the 3rd season because they didn't camp out in the jail for the entire season just "surviving" they ventured out for supplies, got attacked by the governor, Carl and Rick camp in an abandoned home, attempt to find Terminus, and Daryl and Beth bond. A much more intricate season with much needed setting diversity. Not to mention the show does a great job with its character development by providing flashbacks for a majority of the major characters to show an insight as to why they are who they are. On top of that the show began to get much more dark in its themes. Not just people being eaten alive, but cannibalism and rape becoming a thing. And Carl going mad and the little girl who thinks zombies are more alive than humans. Like What the Fuck, that part had me sketching out because of how creepy and sad it was. Another part of the show that makes me happy is how Rick became much more decisive and is not afraid to kill anyone in his path, he has become much more practical. The show is also I afraid to kill characters much like Game of Thrones, keeping you on your feet. I know quite a few people who like me quit after watching season 3. I urge you to give season 4 a chance because it is very intriguing and I understand why the show is rated so highly. But I still would not compare it to Game of Thrones, but I binge watched season 4 over the span of a mere two days. The cliffhangers left by each episode are very good. But the one thing I disliked is the ending to the Season, it ended like midway through a battle, which in my opinion is just poor episode/time management. Because that isn't really a true cliffhanger or proper conclusion. Of course people will be eager to see the next episode, but only because you pretty much stopped the episode half way. It is much like making a part 2, to a feature film. |
