In the heart of the sea review
My Rating: 7.5/10
IMDb Rating: 6.9/10 Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 43% Metacritics Rating: 47/100 Roger Ebert: 2/4 My Favorite Quotes: 1. George Polland: [upon meeting] "Chase." That's an off-island name, isn't it? Owen Chase: Yes, it is. And very shortly we will be off-island for some time, and I'll be very much at home. [calmly smiles] As far as children stories go, this movie is not that kind of story. Although it is based on the children's novel Moby Dick, it tends to show the "real" events that took place instead of the PG13 events from the book. The CGI was very well created and it was aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Chris or Liam Hemsworth's acting was solid. The first/third person narration was well executed because it never spent to much time in the present time nor the past. The underlining plot is that telling the truth is a tricky thing to do. Also, the ending scene shows that the world is evolving and it's inevitable, I found that to be the underlying theme of this movie. This movie was a pretty enjoyable adventure that was well shot and had a good soundtrack to help build tension and create sorrow when necessary. Nothing ground breaking, but still enjoyable. |
